La Quinta PlayHouse Children'sProgram 

KIDDIE KLASSICS

This free program is open to all Coachella Valley children. Children between the ages of 8-17 will learn about and participate in a theatre production and give live performances at the end of their study season.

Educational and Social Science studies of children have shown that exposure to and participation in theatre fosters greater academic achievement, nurtures self-esteem and enhances social skills.

La Quinta PlayHouse has been and will continue to award scholarships to area students interested in advanced education in the arts.

The workshops will teach the fundamentals of theatre and improvisation and will introduce children to voice, movement, choreography and more, including the classics. There will be a fall and spring workshop.

Program and theatre director JoAnn Reeves said the program is structured so that she and her team can work with the children’s individual skills. Noemi Hane, the children’s director for this program, emphasizes that the program is for kids who have some interest in learning about theatre and are willing to work.
